Irene Porter

Irene Porter of Woodbridge, passed away in Lodi on June 25, 2008, at the age of 93. Mrs. Porter was born in Tripp, South Dakota on July 19, 1914 to Gottfried and Louisa Hasart. She married Charles Porter March 7, 1936, in St. Lawrence, South Dakota. They moved to Lodi in February of 1948. She was a part-owner of Lodi Launderette with her sister, Viola. She then worked for Lodi Unified School District, retiring from Lodi Memorial Hospital in the dietary department. Her hobbies included traveling, painting, cooking, reading, sewing, crocheting, and counter-cross stitch. She hand-made quilts for each granddaughter and her two daughters. Her children, grandchildren and many nieces and friends have her paintings in their homes. She was a long-time member of United Congregational Christian Church in Lodi. Mrs. Porter is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Maurice) Kammerer of Acampo and Sydney (Chuck) Woltkamp of Lodi; eight grandchildren, Steven, Timothy, Brian, Robert, David, Mitchell, Barry and Michelle; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Edwin Hasart and sister, Viola Naser of Lodi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Joseph Porter, March 3, 1964; daughter, Lennice Irene Reese; three brothers, Jacob, Bernard and Thomas Hasart; four sisters, Melita, Ita, Johanna and Reinata; two brothers in infancy. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Monday, June 30, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Untied Congregational Church. There is no visitation, and committal is private. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Porter’s name to United Congregational Church, 701 S. Hutchins, Lodi, CA 95240.
